Private clients (such as householders) employ Silkstone to investigate occurrences on their property such as flooding, contamination and subsidence, in order to prevent damage and devaluation to their property. Silkstone Engineers have also reported on cases of 'postcode blight'. This is where a property formerly unaffected by flooding or close to a waste management site has become devalued because of the recent introduction of postcode based classification systems which organisations such as insurance companies, building societies and the Environment Agency have deployed. These systems, unfortunately, take no account of the actual circumstances of the individual property, which may be worth investigating in order to restore the property value or bring down an insurance premium.
